Hi, my name is Evelyn González and I am a student at Harvard College. I was born in Miami to a Cuban Immigrant family, and was raised by my Grandfather, Eduardo. This year, while working on my Senior Thesis on Cuban History, the unthinkable happened.

While studying late one evening, I suddenly got an extreme headache. It was more pain than I have ever experienced and I was sent to the Emergency room at Cambridge Health Alliance.

A CT scan revealed a significant cerebral hemorrhage, and I was immediately transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Once there, additional tests discovered an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) in my brain. This is a rare type of defective connection between veins and arteries in my brain.

Now, I am in the Neurology Special Care unit allowing time for the hemorrhage to resorb and awaiting brain surgery to repair the damage.

Any funds raised will help cover this sudden medical debt, and will help make it possible for my elderly grandfather to stay near as he has traveled from Miami to Boston to be near me during this time.
