You may or may not know my dear friend Debbie Bates Ray. Debbie was a member of the Southern Company family as Sr. Aircraft Coordinator at the Southern Company Birmingham Hangar. Debbie’s joyful, fun-loving and caring personality brightened the days of everyone she worked with or came in contact with. Debbie is a dear friend to many and much-loved!
Debbie was recently diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue. She will be undergoing surgery tomorrow at Grandview Medical Center. Unfortunately, Debbie does NOT have medical insurance.
I cannot imagine the fear and anxiety that accompanies a cancer diagnosis. The added stress and worry over money are things that someone already dealing with an overwhelming diagnosis shouldn’t have to deal with. We would like to alleviate some of these pressures by providing Debbie with a fund that she can use to help with the costs.
