My name is Sandi and my mom is Kim Lemka.
Kim has been given a prognosis of a few weeks to maybe a month or two to live; she has cirrosis of the liver, thyroid failure, dementia, and malnourishment past the point of recovery.
We are trying to make her as comfortable as possible and she is being placed in hospice care at a wonderfully kind facility to live out the rest of her life.
She will be leaving behind her husband, four children, many many friends, and an 8 year old grandson (my son).
I have been active in my mom's declining health for the past 3 years, and now need help paying for her hospice care, which is $8,000 a month.
My mom was a nurse for over 40 years and spent the last half working in the NICU, was an administrator for end of life care for cancer patients, and ran the bereavement program at Madigan Army Medical Center. She lived her life helping others, and now I'm hoping all of her good deeds will come back to her in the end.
Any little bit helps.
