Brody Needs our Help
Donation protected
A member of Team Dogist desperately needs our help.
Today, April 2nd at 4:00pm, Brody’s gallbladder ruptured and he was rushed into emergency surgery. An ultrasound shows a bright spot on his liver which they think could be a ruptured abscess, and the doctors gave him a 50/50 chance of surviving the surgery.
If he does survive surgery, he will need to stay in the hospital for 6-8 days because of a GI drain, and the recovery will be intense.
Here is the timeline of everything that’s happened this week:
Tuesday:
Brody was admitted to the hospital with a fever of 105. Jacquie noticed his stomach was enlarged and hard to the touch. An ultrasound showed severe pancreatitis, so they made sure to give him around the clock care – fluids, meds, etc.
Wednesday:
Brody was taken home but quickly returned to the hospital when his temperature spiked again.
Thursday:
Brody’s temperature went down, but they put him on an antibiotic for the next few days in case there was any infection. They also started him on pain medications, and let Jacquie take him home so he could rest more comfortably.
Saturday:
Brody’s fever reached an all time high, and he was unable to get out of bed. He began panting and shaking, so Jacquie took him back to the hospital. His stomach appeared extremely distended, so they sent him in for another ultrasound. The ultrasound determined Brody’s gallbladder had ruptured. He’s currently in exploratory surgery where his doctors are trying to determine what’s wrong.

As of today, Jacquelyn Sawyer and her husband have maxed out their credit cards caring for Brody this week – together, they’ve spent $24,000. Because Brody has pre-existing health conditions, we’re unsure when and if pet insurance will cover this surgery, and he needs help now.
All funds that we don’t end up needing for his care will be donated directly to 501-C3 organizations through The Dogist Fund.
Thank you for helping our sweet Brody. Every dollar counts.
Please see hospital estimates below.
Additional Information about this fundraiser:
Jacquelyn Sawyer is a beloved member of my team, Team Dogist. All proceeds for this fundraiser will cover the veterinary bills of Jacquelyn Sawyer's Dog, Brody. Please see the estimates above for specifics.
