We’re just a normal family, poised at the edge of a cliff. Like most families we know, things are balanced on a shoestring financially. We were doing okay—things were tight, but we were making it—until Sarah lost her job in May. The company she worked for has denied her unemployment claim, so the family has been operating solely on Melissa’s income. It’s just not enough to cover the mortgage and the bills. We have borrowed from every possible avenue and exhausted our savings entirely.
We were able to enroll in a program to prevent foreclosure a couple of years ago when we ran into trouble. We’ve scraped and borrowed to keep the house afloat, but we’re currently 43 days late on our mortgage. If we don't get caught up by the 60-day mark, we will be removed from the foreclosure prevention program and the house will go into the foreclosure process. Every cent we have is going to keeping the kids fed and housed, but we're just not making it. Sarah’s unemployment appeal is still pending, and they don't give any kind of ETA on when that could change. All we know right now is that the company has 10 business days to respond, and they are still within that window. Sarah is also desperately trying to find another job and has applied all over the place.
Our family would be eternally grateful for any help you might feel compelled to spare.
