Hi, my name is Heather I am fundraising for my neighbor and friend Erica Bender who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 2 Grade 3 Breast Cancer. She has a High-Grade ductal cancer that is estrogen and progesterone positive and HER2 negative. Her mother battled breast and ovarian cancer before she lost her battle in November of 2021. After dealing with the loss, Erica decided to get checked by her Dr only to find a lump, which after a biopsy confirmed all our worst nightmares she was diagnosed with cancer and tested positive for the braca1 gene

Erica is a 35-year-old single mother of a 13-year-old son Shane. Things are hard enough for those of us that are not facing a life-threatening illness. We are trying to at least reduce her stress on how she is going to pay her monthly bills during treatment. Erica is having a double mastectomy on July 18, 2022, after which she will need to reassess and most likely have a total hysterectomy to prevent ovarian cancer which she is at high risk for. So, her battle is far from over.

While supporting others in their fight for years, it is time for her to fight her own fight "like a girl."
