Kim Griffis’ fight against cancer
Donation protected
Quick update - in the first part of the year, Kim had chemo and a cyberknife treatment (a type of radiation). In August, Kim and Aaron had a lovely wedding ceremony in Wichita. Kim is now in another round of chemo, likely followed by radiation. We appreciate all your love, prayers, and healing energy.
My name is Meagan and I am organizing this fundraiser for my soon to be sister-in-law, Kim Griffis.
In August of 2021, Kim was diagnosed with colon cancer. Soon after, she had surgery to remove a malignant colon mass. After a successful surgery, she completed 6 months of chemotherapy. Then in December 2022, a scan indicated that additional surgery was necessary to remove a lesion and lymph nodes in her lungs. She has been on chemo since the surgery early this year. On September 1st, she had an appointment to go over scan results. We had high hopes for a clear scan and an end to chemo, but unfortunately there were two spots on her lungs. It could not be determined if the spots are cancer or simply inflammation, so the plan is now to complete an antibiotic treatment then continue with chemo medication and infusions for six weeks at which point another scan will provide additional information.
Throughout these two years, Kim has been on an emotional and physical rollercoaster, but has stayed positive, determined, and has been living her life as normally as possible. She has been dedicated to her job as a hospice social worker, taking care of others in need while fighting her own battle.
This Gofundme is to provide financial support for Kim and her fiancé Aaron Epp. After all the scans, doctor visits, surgeries, hospital stays, and treatments the medical bills are piling up even though she has medical insurance. While we are confident that Kim will soon reach remission, we aren't finished with the fight just yet and expect additional medical expenses.
