Mom and the family experienced a lot of loss in one day that affected mom the most. In a single day we lost a great family friend the within minutes mom and Angela both lost their jobs. That day changed all our lives. Mom started to have massive headaches that we all thought for sure were brought on my stress. Little did we all know mom was really sick. Really sick. Mom had a stroke.
Saturday (6/27) at 2am Dad would be waking me up to take mom to the ER. Everything went dark as we waited. Within two hours we were told that Mom had bleeding on the brain. The doctor decided it was best to not operate since she had full mobility. Sunday morning she was going down hill and the doctor had changed his mind. We needed to operate immediately to save Mom's life. The next 3 hours were the hardest 3 hours of our lives.
Mom came out of surgery well. When Dad was able to finally see her, she opened her eyes and said, "Hi Babe!" At first Mom could not move her left arm or hand. Monday morning her she had gained movement of her left arm and hand. She briefly spoke with us kids and fell asleep.
Mom has been doing physical and speech therapy daily. She doesn't like having to do them but she is always willing. Mom is slow and unstable but growing stronger daily. She will most likely need to be in a rehab facility for some time.
Myself, Staci, Angela, Megan, and Brian put our heads together and felt it best to do a Go Fund Me. Mom is going to require special care and a helping hand for sometime.
We have found out that the total out of pocket cost for moms care as of now will be close to 7k. So there is where we have set the goal. Now that we have direction we are hoping to see this take off.
