Cali's Journey

Meet Cali, the charismatic 6-year-old black Labrador renowned for her sassy personality—earning her the title of the "Sass Queen." Ryan (Cali’s Dad) skillfully captures Cali's charm through photography, managing her Instagram account (@Cali.lab), while Loz (Cali’s Mom) takes charge of the engaging reels and story posts on TikTok.

Cali thrives on an active routine, enjoying daily walks, swimming sessions, grooming, and a carefully curated RAW diet. She is showered with love and care, being the sole dog in our household. Cali is not just a pet; she's an integral part of Ryana and Loz’s daily lives, accompanying them to various places and even sharing the bed at night.

However, a recent health scare has disrupted Cali's vibrant routine. Unusual drinking and urination patterns prompted a visit to the vet, initially suspected to be a urinary tract infection (UTI). Despite antibiotics, her condition did not significantly improve. Further tests revealed alarmingly high kidney and calcium levels in her blood, indicating a more complex issue.

While kidney scans ruled out kidney disease, they revealed overworked kidneys, likely due to the elevated calcium levels. Extensive tests, including full-body ultrasound and CT/CAT scans, have eliminated cancer as a cause. The quest to identify the root cause continues, with results from multiple tests pending.

Currently residing at the emergency vet hospital, Cali is receiving dedicated care, including intravenous fluids, anti-nausea medication, and pain relief to ease her discomfort.

The next steps involve awaiting test results and preparing for potential surgical intervention or a form of chemotherapy. This will require an extended stay at the hospital to closely monitor her calcium levels. Despite the uncertainty, the prospect of surgery brings hope, given the high recovery and survival rates associated with the procedure. Cali's well-being remains Ryan and Loz’s top priority, and they eagerly await the forthcoming test results to determine the best course of action for her continued care.
