St Neots Crazy Skaters will be fundraising this year for Teenage Cancer Trust. This is an organisation creating world class cancer services for young people in the UK, providing life-changing care and support so young people don't have to face cancer alone. The Teenage Cancer Trust helps our local community by running the C9 unit at Addenbrookes hospital. Like us they know you only get one chance at being young yet these years are vital for shaping the rest of your life. It's important to us that the local community has a place where they can feel safe to embrace new challenges and make memories through their achievements in roller sport. Our volunteers help our skaters and players develop both on and off their skates so they succeed in everything they do. We both understand how important creating the right environment for young people is and the positive impact having someone in their corner has on them and their dreams. The funds we raise will help us advance our cause and champion the right environment by supporting Teenage Cancer Trust in their important mission.
Our members will be completing two challenges in their respective sessions. Our Artistic & Social skaters will be challenged to complete 2212 laps as a collective total in 60 minutes. This represents a lap for every 13-24 year old hearing the words “you have cancer” during our season. Averaging 7 a day. Our Sharks hockey players will compete in a round robin tournament with each game lasting 4 minutes. This represents 45 seconds for each en-suite bedroom in the Addenbrookes C9 unit.
