U.S. Marine to Paramedic

Hello Family, Friends and Supporters
My name is Willy Moore and I’m a 31 year old full-time EMT here in San Diego. Also, I am a former U.S. Marine with combat service. As a kid, my dream was to become a firefighter. As I have grown up, I realized that I would need to gain a love and a passion for medicine in order to make that dream come true. Once I was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, I immediately went to school and started studying Fire Science and Emergency Medical Technology. After about two years of school, I was able to obtain my EMT license while coming within a few classes of obtaining an AA in Fire Science. During that time, I was hired by a private ambulance company that provides 911 emergency services to the citizens of San Diego. For the past four years, I’ve worked as a full-time EMT on a Paramedic Ambulance while working to gain my knowledge and experience in order to be a successful paramedic student. Since I exhausted my military benefits (GI Bill) during the first few years of school, I am no longer eligible for military educational benefits. Also the immaturity in regards to my finances during my early adult years has left me trying to pick up the pieces, pay off credit cards and loans while trying to rebuild my credit. As an unfortunate result, I am now ineligible for a student loan. Now that I’ve been employed as a EMT for over four years I feel as though I’m ready to advance my career and attend paramedic school. The school at which I have been accepted into is called EMSTA College, with a tuition total of $11,500, and it is approximately a 18-month program that starts on 11/9/15. Due to having exhausted all of my military educational benefits, poor credit and this college specifically not accepting financial aid, I’m now forced to acquire my own funding for school. I’m submitting a GoFundMe page with hopes of raising the money to help me fulfill my dream of becoming a paramedic so that I can provide a better service to the citizens that I’m blessed to work for. EMSTA College has fortunately broken down the payments to make it easier for those of us who need to utilize loans or forced to foot the bill individually. With that being said, I’m hoping to raise this money over the course of the next 4-6 months. There is no specific amount that I’m requesting individually, just whatever you’re able to donate or invest into my future. All donations will be greatly appreciated and used as motivation to study and work harder to accomplish this goal. To those that have already donated and offered their support I want to say THANK YOU!! This is no easy task and obtaining the funding is just the first step. So with that being said, I want to say thank you for taking the time to read my page and hopefully you can find it in your heart to donate a little.
