Hi,
My name is Charlie I am/was a super fit and active person, a runner, mountain walker/climber, mountain biker you name it! However, 4 years ago like everyone I caught Covid for 10 days, recovered but when I went for a run with my brother Will I noticed my left leg was not picking up correctly and this continued to the point I couldn’t run because I was dropping my foot and tripping over even when walking. So, I went to the Royal London hospital had a series of tests and MRI scans and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
Even though I take medication this has not improved my symptoms and steadily my walking has deteriorated where I can only walk sometimes 50 metres with walking poles, so for such an active person this is very upsetting and frustrating. I live on a barge at Limehouse in east London and now hardly go out because walking to the underground is a total mission, then changing trains and changing platforms at stations where there are often steps becomes a total nightmare and an impossibility.
I get a disability allowance which I can now put towards a car which effectively pays the monthly commitment (it’s PIP a government thing and is like a lease hire agreement) and decent cars require an upfront amount, so this what I’m hoping friends, family, old work colleagues and others can help me with.
Having a car would be totally life changing for me, giving me back my freedom and the ability to travel and go see my friends and family etc.
