Funeral Services for Jose Ortega

Jose Luis Ortega, 61, of Walla Walla, Washington, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center with his children by his side.

Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Jose grew up in Anaheim, California, and later made Walla Walla his home.

He was a longtime employee of Wildhorse Resort and Casino, where he worked for nearly 20 years in various roles starting out in shipping and receiving, then made his way to the AV department. He was in charge of lights and sound production for the entertainment in the bar on the weekends.

But Jose was best known as the DJ.

Jose was a devoted father, grandfather, son, and brother. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, cheering on his favorite football and basketball teams, and sharing laughter with those around him.

He is survived by his mother, Francisca Ortega; his children: Jose Luis Ortega-Osorio, Joel Ortega-Osorio, Michon Breazeale, and Nico Ortega; siblings: Juan, Pedro, Javier, Andres, Amelia, and Ana Ortega; and grandchildren: Ava Salinas and Jose Luis Ortega-Cruz. He was preceded in death by his father, Secundino Ortega.

A reception will follow the burial in the building next to St. Patrick Catholic Church. Guests are welcome to bring a dish, potluck style.

Jose's warmth, humor, and love for his family will be deeply missed forever.
