For those of you who don't know, over a year ago, Connor Martin and I, Christine Harvey, took on the endeavor of writing an original musical. After putting on a staged reading at Hofstra University and doing months of rewrites, we are both so excited to say we will be putting up the show in a workshop production this May at Theatre Row in NYC and recording a Cast Album! Performances will be Friday, May 24th at 8pm; Saturday, May 25th at 8pm; and Sunday, May 26th at 2pm.
Our musical, With or Without You, follows a young girl, Charlotte, and her mother, Margaret, living in a small town post-9/11 after her father's plane goes missing from his tour in the Air Force. The show follows Charlotte through adolescence into womanhood as she holds onto hope that her father may still be alive, while Margaret attempts to move on with her life, believing her husband is never returning. With her friends and diner family by her side, Charlotte must face the struggles of loss, first love, heart ache, and growing up as she and Margaret attempt to save what's left of the precarious relationship between mother and daughter.
Because of the early stages this show is in, much of the money for things such as the theatre, rehearsal spaces, insurance, and other production expenses have been fronted by myself and Connor personally in order to get things up and running. In addition to that, further expenses will arise in regards to ticketing, print and advertising, copyright costs, and paying our wonderful cast and crew that will be very difficult to properly cover without the help of incredible arts supporters like yourselves! For that reason, we have created this GoFundMe with the hopes of reaching and exceeding our goal for all of our planned production costs so that we may put on the best version of this production possible and put any extra money back into our cast and crew who are dedicating so much time and effort to make this production a reality in addition to working full-time jobs.
For anyone who is willing and able to donate to our production, we have set up different tiers of creative prizes as our way to thank you for helping up make our dream a reality!
Tier 1: (any donation) Thank you so much for taking the time to support us! For any donation, we will be giving you a special thanks shout out in our production playbills to acknowledge you as one of our supporters!
Tier 2: (a donation of $15 or more) For those who want to be brought along this journey with us. In addition to a special thanks, you will also receive access to exclusive rehearsal content to give you updates on our road to production sent to your email.
Tier 3: (a donation of $25 or more) In addition to the previous prizes, tier 3 members will receive a signed playbill by the entire cast and crew. This is your opportunity to say 'you knew them when'!
Tier 4: (a donation of $50 or more) For this tier, we are giving you the gift of music! On top of our previous prizes, you will receive a digital download copy of our Cast Album upon completion. That's the gift that keeps on giving!
Tier 5: (a donation of $75 or more) We want to commemorate your support for us. For this tier, in addition to the previous prizes, you will also get the opportunity to have your picture taken with the cast and crew and we will sign and send a physical copy in addition to the digital print. Make sure to come photo ready!
Tier 6: (a donation of $100 or more) Thank you for showing us so much love. On top of our previous prizes, you will also receive a special producer credit in our playbill to show that YOU were a big part in making this production a reality.
Tier 7: (a donation of $250 or more) Those of you crazy enough to donate this much to our cause definitely need a drink. So let us help with that! Everyone who fulfills the tier 7 requirement, in addition to the previous 6 prizes, will be invited to come get post-show drinks with the cast and crew! Come mingle and let us know what you thought of the show. The first round is on us!
Tier 8: (a donation of $500 or more) It seems only fitting that we get to thank our tier 8 supporters in person. In addition to the previous prizes, the first 10 individuals to donate to this tier will get to take themselves and their plus one's to a pre-show dinner with the creative team! We will split this up to be 5 and 5 over the Friday and Saturday night shows, and are willing to open up a Sunday brunch option if more than 10 people wish to fulfill this tier!
Tier 9: (a donation of $1,000 or more) This is our top tier for our top supporters! For your overwhelming generosity, we will be providing you with two complimentary tickets to the show or your choice in addition to the previous prizes.
We understand that not everyone who see's this will be able to donate in a financial way, so we ask if you're not able to support us with a monetary donation, please take the time to support us by sharing this!
