As many of you remember, one of our very best friend's Rusty Kunze's son Jackson was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma November 15th 2015 at just under 3 years old. Since this time he has undergone countless Radiation, Stem Cell and Chemotherapy treatments. And against all odd's he had this horrible beast beat..... So we thought....
Thankfully Jackson has had the past couple of years cancer free and has been able to LIVE as he should.. A child.... Playing, singing, getting dirty, building blocks, lego's, and more importantly relationships and experiences with those who love him.
Rusty was so fortunate that through this whole nightmare there was a silver lining.... ANGIE and her daughter Ava. Angie was a nurse at Akron Childrens hospital and last year the 2 were married. It was Jackson's little dream come true... He now had a sister the same age as himself who he is GOING TO MARRY according to both Jackson and AVA :) (Pictured above). And even more exciting they both were given the gift of a little baby brother Zander.
Though he of course had his monthly treatments which he was traveling to Columbus to receive as part of an "Experimental Trial" to keep the cancer at bay, we learned this week that it no longer was able to keep the monster away.
Fast Forward to this past Friday:
Jackson was going to see the doctors in Columbus as he was experiencing pain in his stomach and it was not wavering and wanted to check him out..
Blood work- NORMAL
CAT Scan- NORMAL
Within 24 hours the pain had spread to his neck and hips and he was inconsolable- excruciating pain. Doctors immediately admitted him and began Morphine to alleviate the pain. The MRI the doctors needed to see which would provide more answers would have to wait until Monday when the MRI would once again be available. The waiting begins........
Monday (Yesterday) the MRI was scheduled for 12:00. By 3:38 pm we received a text from Rusty with the unimaginable. "I'm dying. It's back. Its in his spine".
Tomorrow Wednesday Jan 9th at 8:00 am Jackson will be undergoing surgery to remove a part of 1 of the 2 masses to hopefully alleviate little Jackson from some of the excruciating pain he is experiencing.
While the doctors are now saying there is no standard treatment available for this type of cancer recurrence there are trials that he can enter into that may give him a chance........ A chance you say?? We will take it...... Please and Thank you. And Prayers galore.
While we are not reaching out asking for support to pay medical bills or for Jackson's care we are reaching out asking for you to help our friend Rusty to be able to spend as much time with his son as humanly possible by replacing the wages he will most certainly not be able to earn while being by his sons side.
Unfortunately Rusty lives and works over 2 hours from the hospital from where Jackson will be undergoing treatment for the foreseeable future. MY CHILD-work PRECIOUS TIME-work EMOTIONAL SUPPORT-work HUGS-work KISSES-work REASSURANCE-work FAITH-work A PARENTS LOVE-work
what stands out to you? I hope its not work.....
TIME: SOMETHING WE CAN NOT BUY.... TIME something a parent never has enough of when they do not know if tomorrow is too late.
But here is what WE CAN DO! We can GIVE Rusty the TIME by starting this go fund me page so that work is nothing he has to worry about now. So that he will know that the roof over his family of 5's head will still be there when its time to go home. So that he can pay for gasoline for the 2 hour each way journey for himself and his wife.... The parking, the lodging, the food and anything else he see's fit in needing to ensure that he is by Jacksons side.
We reach out to you with our heart's broken and pray for good news while knowing there is a battle to fight ahead.
What we ask of you.. DONATE, $5.00, $25.00, $100.00 or more.. Forego a dinner out with your family knowing that you are sacrificing for the love of a father who just wants TIME. No amount is too small and it all adds up. TIME I beg for everyone to please not think of it as money you are giving but TIME. Time to hold his son, to wipe away the tears, to show him how loved he is, to be his son's strength when he can not find anymore within himself. To allow this father who loves his child more than life itself more moments to fight by his son's side. To be there for the laughter and hopefully for the news that against all odds they beat this monster yet once again.
God Bless everyone and Thank you for your gift of Time, something no one can ever take away.
