The worst call a parent can ever receive is from an ER Doctor telling you that your child is on life support in a hospital in another country. That's what happened to us. My son suffered a seizure and ended up in the ICU on a ventilator and a medically induced coma.  The doctors and the rest of the clinical team worked hard and so did my son and he has made a full and miraculous recovery.  But now we are faced with a $30,000.00 USD hospital bill. He is a Canadian citizen who was visiting the US and unfortunately hadn't arranged for health insurance. As Canadians we take our free healthcare for granted and sometimes forget how lucky we are.  We need to raise funds to cover the costs for his hospital stay. My son almost died.....the second worst thing a parent has ever had to say to people.
