"Kittens don't belong in junkyards"
Pet Patrol is an entirely volunteer-run, non-profit cat rescue organization in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. All our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and any health concerns are addressed before they are available for adoption. Please visit our website for more information about our charity. www.petpatrol.ca
Hello, my name is Yani and this is my story:
I am still very young but I have been through some hard times. My brothers and sisters and I were born on a not so nice farm. Our mother tried to take care of us and keep us warm, but there was not enough to eat and she was very thin and tired. When we were big enough to leave the abandoned car that we called home we discovered we were in a junkyard, surrounded by broken trailers and piled up skids and junk. It was a dangerous place for a small kitten to be. Nails sticking out of wood, broken glass and we were always afraid of being cut by sharp pieces of metal. Nevertheless, our mother tried to teach us to hunt if we were to survive. By this time though, I knew something about me was different. I could not see out of my one eye. This made it difficult to see things coming at me from my left side, I was frightened easily, and I sometimes lost track of my mom and siblings. As the weather started to turn cold, wet and windy my brother and I were huddled up one very cold night, waiting for mom to return, we cried for her but she never came to find us. We don’t know what happened to her. The next day a lady came and picked us up with warm and gentle hands and took us inside. Now I am safe but my eye is in very bad shape, infected and it throbs with pain. The vet says my eye can’t be saved; I will need surgery to have it removed. Then I will start to feel better and I can grow strong and healthy. I am looking forward to that. My surgery will cost $1350.00! That is a lot for any cat rescue organization to come up with, and so quickly. But I hear there are many generous 'cat people' out there who might like to help a kitty like me. Wouldn’t you like to be one of those people? With no pain I might gain a whole new life!
