"I'm Not in Love with You" a comedy series
The Show:
Sean thinks he's very successful. After making good choices in college, he moved to New York City to work in Television. Sean is proud of how he's managed to create a comfortable life in such an intense city. He makes his breakfast the night before and always gets seven hours of deep sleep. Sean is very, very boring.
Matt knows he's doing great. He had one audition this month and isn't going to let another bad date slow him down. Matt is desperate to discover everything that life has to offer. He hasn't been sleeping well lately and knows he should start saving for retirement. Matt thinks Sean is very, very boring.
Sean is gay, and doesn't like it. Matt is straight, and likes it just fine. After meeting at college in small-town Ohio, they became best friends with very different views on how to live your best life. With each approaching their 30th birthday, their opposite philosophies reach a breaking point.
The Story:
Through this mostly-autobiographical story I hope to highlight the not-often-explored relationship between a gay boy and his straight best friend. As they rely on each other as emotional support, I want to highlight issues many 30 year olds face. At this age, you're definitely an adult. You begin to recognize the things in your life that benefit your growth and those that hold you back. You're forced to see the things in your life that you've kept around out of obligation, and start to feel desperate for new life experiences. I'm eager to show how this change affects your greatest friendships, the comfortable life you've created for yourself, and how it tests everything you think you know about yourself.
It's "Never Been Kissed" meets "Call Me By Your Name"
The Goal:
The initial goal is to raise $2,000 to help offset the costs of creating the first episode. Our estimate is that the first episode will cost about $6,000. The money raised will help pay for:
- Equipment Rentals
- Production Insurance
- Wages for Crew Members
- Post-production
I intend to create this regardless of how much money is raised. I've been eager to tell this story and I think I offer a unique viewpoint. I hope that you find the project interesting and help in any way you can.
