Our journey down the path of very serious medical issues began in October 2018. It was then that I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and at the time, unknown really the true size of the lump or the stage.
While I was going to surgeons, oncologists, more tests, Bob made his semi-annual visit to his vascular surgeon to have an aneurysm checked in his abdominal aorta. The aneurysm was at the point that surgery was imperative to repair it. As it happened, Bob's surgery was November 30th, and my lumpectomy was December 7th....just one week apart. We were quite a pair for about a week, each trying to help the other as best we could. In January, my radiation treatments began. Also, in January, Bob had a heart ablation (shocked his heart out of PVCs).
I was off work for about 3 months, trying hard to get back into the swing of things. Even with PTO and borrowing from 2019 vacation time, my paychecks were barely getting us through.
Then, the medical bills began arriving. Even with our Medicare Advantage plans, the bills were still astronomical! We used our credit cards hoping to keep up with them. But they kept growing. Now our credit cards are stretched thin. Medical bills are on monthly payments right now, but the payments are taking away from paying our regular monthly bills.
We find this difficult to do, but we are asking our family and friends for any help that they can give to free us from this "vicious cycle" that we're in right now. Please!!
Bob and I are eternally grateful to you all! We love you! Thank you!
