"Emily's Garden" A Memorial for Our Beloved Friend
Donation protected
As the one year anniversary of the passing of our beloved Emily is approaching, We would like to honor and celebrate the incredible person she was with a permanent memorial in her name. The memorial will be located in Wallington, NJ on the parish property of The Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish. We will need everyone’s and anyone’s help to make this vision become a reality. The idea behind the garden is to celebrate the life of a beautiful soul, where people can commence to plant flowers, relax, and reminisce about our dear friend. A garden full of life and color to remind us of the vibrant, loving, and full of life personality Emily shared.
Emily Desbiens was a lifelong parishioner at The Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish in Wallington, NJ. Throughout her life she has donated hundreds of hours volunteering for the church. She was known by all members of the parish and heavily participated in events with her family. Emily could have been seen helping make pierogis, teaching Sunday school, preparing the hall for events, or watering the plants surrounding the premise.
Emily has been greatly missed by the parish, members of the Wallington community, her loved ones and fellow colleagues. Emily graduated from Wallington High School in 2015, during her time she was a cheerleader, softball player, member of the student council, National Honor Society, as well as an active member in various groups. She continued her education at William Paterson University, where she studied Psychology and was a part of the Honors College. Emily was also an active sister of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. She was known for her contagious laugh, lighthearted attitude, and love for dogs and the outdoors.
Upon meeting with the Church counsel I was given permission to use allocated property for a permanent memorial.
Painting the final picture:
"Emily's Garden" will consist of a paved patio approximately 11'x11' in size. In the center of the patio there will be a large Dogwood tree with a memorial stone which will be custom made. There will be a garden surrounding the patio where anyone can plant flowers for Emily. The perimeter of the garden will be edged off by a small picket fence with an opening for an arched wooden gate for the entrance. The patio will also feature 2 benches so that people can sit and rest.
There will also be an option to have a custom message engraved on a brick paver. These customized bricks will be diligently placed within the patio and display your personalized message.
If you are interested in engraving a brick with a custom message please donate a minimum of a $100 and contact me with the message you would like to have engraved.
After carefully calculating the Budget, I’ve considered the key ticket expenses- contractor labor, material for the patio, the Dogwood tree, (2) custom benches, paver engravings, a custom stone memorial, fencing, and an entrance gate.
Our goal is to reach $5,000 by May 1st to give enough time for the Garden's completion by mid June.
The Goal is to raise enough money to make a long-lasting, vibrant memorial to forever remember our dearest friend. Any excess funding will be donated toward a scholarship at William Paterson University in Emily's name.
If you can not help monetarily but would like to help with the construction or planning, please let me know, volunteers would be a great assistance in finishing the garden on time. The design of the garden is not yet finalized so any suggestions or ideas are warmly welcome.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!
Thank you for your generosity and involvement in “Emily’s Garden”
The Target is to Reach our $5,000 Goal by May 1st to give enough time for the Garden's completion by mid June.
