In May 2021 (postponed from March 28, 2020 due to coronavirus concerns), the world premiere of "Concerto for Castings" will be performed by Hong Kong's amazing Millennium Youth Orchestra and world-renowned percussion virtuoso Matthew Lau, under the baton of composer Michael J. Glasgow. If the originally scheduled venue is available for the new date, the performance will take place at Hong Kong's amazing Tseun Wan Town Hall Auditorium.
The 35-minute, three-movement work for full orchestra and percussion soloist was composed to fulfill a commission showcasing the high-performance potential of rack-mounted clapperless handbell castings (the soloist performs on three octaves).
A good-faith agreement was in place for corporate sponsorship to cover the costs of Michael's travel and lodging, as well as an honorarium for Matthew. Unfortunately, the sponsor informed us earlier this year that they would not be able to honor this agreement, so we have turned to friends and colleagues who are passionate about music, handbells, and/or percussion!
Funds raised through this campaign will offset travel and lodging expenses for Michael, as well as provide an honorarium for Matthew (Michael has never requested, nor expects, an honorarium for himself). If any funds are leftover after expenses are met, they will be donated to the Millennium Youth Orchestra and the Handbell Association of Hong Kong.

ALL donations, in any amount, are sincerely appreciated. We do not yet know if the performance will be recorded and posted for public distribution...but if it is, each supporter will be e-mailed a link directly.
NEW CONTRIBUTION DEADLINE: everyone who contributes $50 or more by December 31, 2020 will receive a limited-edition concert poster signed by composer Michael J. Glasgow and soloist Matthew Lau. (Contributions in early 2021 will be accepted and appreciated, but we can't guarantee posters or printed recognition after the December 31 deadline.)

Congratulations to Derek Nance, our top-donating individual at the end of the original contribution deadline! Derek will receive, in addition to a poster, a pair of Matthew Lau's Signature Series Elite Mallets actually used by Matthew in the world-premiere performance!
As Hong Kong goes through a very troubling time in its history, we wish to remember the healing and restorative power of music, especially for our young people. We thank you for your consideration in helping make this work come to life, and helping connect hearts across the world.
