"Cancer Sucks"- Diagnosis Leaves Immediate Need

Donation protected
Meet my sister Kim...She lives in CT with her 2 boys as a single mom.  Kim is just 5 years older than I am, with 2 boys in high school.  Last month she heard the words none of us ever want to hear;
"It is Cancer, Stage 3"...from that moment on life changed.  She has not been able to work due to her recent diagnosis and chemo treatments that have made her their own kind of ill!

Kim is filled with pride, and accepting help is hard for any of us...This fundraising campaign is one way I can support her and try and alleviate some of the financial burdens that she is carrying in addition to her recent diagnostic news.  We all have limited energy, and Kim's energy must be used to focus on the positives and her healing...not on how many bills are going unpaid while she is unable to work.

Her chemo treatments are aggressive...she has a port where she recieves 48 hours of chemo once every two week, for the next 6 months. There is no immediate relief; in fact it is quite likely the chemo will make her feel more ill as it progresses.

I myself have taken my health and well being for granted in the past....this diagnosis for my sister, has been a vivid reminder that time is a gift, and that anyone of us could be in this terrifying position in a moments notice.

I have never before asked for financial help from friends and family...I pray none of you are ever in this unexpected situation of balancing the gift of time and making each day count, with the logistical planning and necessity of meeting one's basic needs.

Any and all contributions will be gratefully appreciated and will be used towards daily living expenses while Kim is fighting this battle that feels far beyond our control.   I believe strongly that the energy we give out is the energy we get back...please share as you are able.  Your contribution will not only help Kim and her 2 boys, but also model  and inspire compassion and genuine caring (which is something our society needs more than ever right now)!

You may not know and love Kim personally like I do...but I bet that you do know someone in your circle of friends, family, or co workers that has been touched by Cancer.  Please consider making a donation here in honor or in memory of someone you do know and love who has been on some part of this challenging journey.

I personally thank you for any amount that you are able to contribute and share...many hands make light work; so please share this freely. Let's use social media for good!   While we can not control what happens to us, we can control how we respond.

I choose to respond with love, support, caring, empathy and compassion. Life is better shared.....thank you for sharing with my family at this  complex time.
