On October 18, 2019, our world was turned upside down when Bill was diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis. He went to the ER for severe stomach pain and vomiting. Next thing we knew he was being admitted to the hospital. After many tests were done, I don’t think any of us will ever forget the doctor trying to explain to us what was wrong and ended it off by saying “Well, we will see what happens, if he makes it until tomorrow, then we will go from there”. Those are words no family member ever wants to hear. Thankfully, 8 days later he is still with us and hanging in there with the care of Shands ICU staff. They are doing everything possible to get his condition under control. However, on Monday October 21st, when we thought it couldn’t get any worse Bill took a turn for the worse and things quickly spiraled out of control, his heart rate became dangerously high, oxygen levels dropped, fluid surrounded his lungs & abdominal organs, kidneys are not working as they should, he’s on insulin due to unstable blood sugar, on top of all these issues he had to be medically sedated. We are currently on day 5 and he is still being medically sedated, so far all efforts to bring him safley out of the sedation has been unsuccessful. At this point the doctors can’t tell us with any certainty that he will make it through this horrible nightmare. With that said, We would like to ask for any type of donation so that when he wakes up he does not have to worry about all his current and future medical bills and can concentrate on healing/getting better from this horrible disease. Any funds will help pay for medical expensed, all of his household bills and pets. We would like to be able to help ease the financial burden of these current & future costs. It is estimated that Bill will be unable to go home or even work for approximately 6 months or longer and will need a lot of care when he does get to go home. I understand that not everyone can donate but prayers are always welcomed and a simple share of this post would be greatly appreciated. We ask that his many friends try to pull together and help him even it’s just $5. We can’t thank you all enough for anything you can do. We will update you as he continues his courageous fight to survive and eventually go home.
