"Be The Match 4 Estella"

Donation protected
In March of this year, the lives of Daniel, Estella and four-year-old son, Justin Kim were changed overnight during an ER visit when Estella was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). She was instantly placed on an aggressive chemotherapy regimen and notified that her best chances for survival is through a blood stem or marrow transplant. She immediately partnered with the Asian American Donor Program (AADP), awaiting for a match as she continues to fight for her life. Unfortunately, no matches were found in the registry due to her rare ethnicity of being Asian American. At this time, only Estella’s brother was used as a donor despite being only a 60% partial match. The Kim Family are very close friend of ours. Although, others have attempted to raise awareness to register, there is still a huge deficit in Asian American registers which is the reason why we have decided to hold a multipurpose event to help raise awareness in our community and raise funds for the medical expenses bestowed on the Kim Family. On October 26, 2019, we are hosting a volleyball tournament on behalf of the Kim Family. This event will be a multipurpose event due to partnering with other organizations such as Be the Match, Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA), and Asian American Donor Program (AADP) to raise awareness for others to register as donors. There will be booths set up for individuals to participate in mouth swabs during the tournament. We are humbly asking for your assistance to make this possible. Your support is key in making the, “Be the Match 4 Estella” event, a successful one. Your donation is greatly appreciated and will be used for team prizes for the tournament, facility and insurance cost, and to cover medical expenses for the Kim family.  We thank you in advance for your support and your time. We hope you will join our cause and help save lives not only for Estella, but for many others.
