Help us bring my new play "Am I Blue?" (an adaptation of the short story "Am I Blue?" by Award Winning Author Bruce Coville) to life at the New York Theater Festival! ( http://newyorktheaterfestival.com/ )
The story is about a boy who is struggling with his sexuality and being bullied for it, in the midst of that happening his fabulous Fairy God-Father shows up and begins to school him on the ways of life and the spectrum of sexuality on which people may fall. Then he grants him 3 wishes, one of which is to have "GayDar" which allows him to see people many different shades of blue depending on where they fall on the spectrum. After seeing all the different kinds of people in many shades, he then wishes for the whole world to have this vision for 24 hours and everything changes!
To bring this production to life, we need $7000.00 to pay for our actors, props and any other incidentals we may occur along the way! We are looking to reach our goal by July 2019
The festival will be held at:
Hudson Guild Theater
441 W 26th St, New York, NY 10001
September 24th, 28th, and 29th
This gives us a great amount of time to make this show incredible!!
This story is very dear to my heart and the heart of many others. It is an honor that I have been blessed to bring it to life in a new way for a new generation. In today's climate, we are seeing so many of our youth trying to identify themselves in a world that doesn't understand who they are. The hope is this story will be another guide for them and for others to continue to encourage that self-acceptance is really the only acceptance that truly matters.
We would be so grateful to have your support for our production!
Thanks again,
