Quinton Represents Team Canada at Karate PanAm's in Brazil

My name is Quinton Damian. On July 4th, I attended Karate Canada’s National Championships in Laval, QC where I won the Silver Medal for Individual Male Kata Cadet Division (14-15yr) for the second consecutive year.

In doing so, I have the privilege of representing Team Canada once again for the Karate Junior Pan American Championships in São Paulo Brazil at the end of August 2024. Last year, I won a Bronze Medal at the Pan American Championships in Santiago Chile in August 2023.

In December 2023, I attended my first Karate1 Youth League Competition in Venice, Italy where I placed 11th. Then in May 2024, I attended my second Karate1 Youth League Competition in A Coruna, Spain where I won the Silver Medal. Because of my success I am currently ranked 10th in the world.

Karate has become my passion since starting in 2017. I have spent countless hours practicing my katas at my dojo, at home and even out in public. When I'm not training, I’m watching international competitions on YouTube. I have been fortunate to have amazing mentors and coaches who saw my potential and continue to help me grow and perfect my craft. It is also thanks to my parents' support that I have been able to devote all this time for my passion. Representing Canada is not only an honor but a great privilege and I hope to someday be able to represent Canada at the Olympic Games.

The competitions I will be attending are a considerable financial commitment and unfortunately there is NO government funding or support for young athletes like me to compete at the international level. This is why I’m turning to you for a helping hand.
