Quinton and the Block Family

Hello, my name is Brittany Nelson, and I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends/family, Ryan and Kristen Block, and their son Quinton.

Quinton is a brave 3-year-old that has been diagnosed with ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenia), a rare autoimmune disorder that leaves him with dangerously low platelets. Sadly, his little body has resisted the steroids and the IVIG, which means years worth of frequently traveling to his hospital visits, long days of testing, and a road of uncertainty ahead.

At this point, with his body resisting both steroids and IVIG, it proves this is not acute ITP, it is chronic. It also means there is and underlying problem that will need to be figured out — ITP is more of a secondary, cause-and-effect disease. This isn’t something that’s going to just “get better,” but rather something that will need to be treated lifelong.

The most immediate and important focus is still getting his platelets up to at least a manageable level. The next step for Q is to try going to Green Bay for injections.

The injection that he will be starting is;
Romiplostim (Nplate): A subcutaneous injection given weekly by a healthcare professional. It stimulates the bone marrow to produce more platelets and is used when steroids and IVIG don’t work.

Monday, September 29th, they will be going to Green Bay for more investigation into his immune system, as well as hopefully his first injection (pending insurance approval). Green Bay can only do limited testing, so they will also be visiting an immunologist/hematologist in Milwaukee to do more immune and genetic testing to better understand Quinton’s little body. Hopefully after these more intense, thorough tests he will get a full diagnosis, although this may take years to fully understand.

As you can imagine, the travel, lodging, meals, and time away from work add up quickly, creating a heavy financial burden on top of an already stressful situation.

I am asking for your help to ease some of these costs so that Ryan and Kristen can focus fully on what matters most—supporting Quinton through his treatment and recovery.

No donation is too small—every bit of support makes a difference. If you’re unable to give financially, sharing this page with others is also a huge help.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for keeping this family in your thoughts and prayers. ✨️
