Quintet Funding for French Music Festival
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
Our woodwind quintet from the University of Northern Iowa (Emily Paul, Madeline Echternacht, Lin Nikkel, Jonathon Hughes, Makayla Rasmussen) has been invited to attend the Festival Musica Malicorne in Le Mans, France. On July 3rd, we will be flying into Paris and traveling to Le Mans. We will have an amazing opportunity to play a reduction of Giuseppe Verdi's opera, La Traviata, and W.A. Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, as well as a variety of woodwind quintet pieces. These performances will be held in and around the Château de Malicorne-sur-Sarthe castle.
Our lodging, meals, and local transportation will be provided courtesy of the Festival Musica Malicorne. We are responsible for our flights to and from France as well as other travel expenses. This festival is a very rare opportunity–it’s not every day that chamber ensembles get invited to perform internationally! We’re asking our friends, family, and colleagues to help support this educational experience.
By contributing to this fund, you are supporting us in being able to afford travel expenses like airfare*, non-local travel, daily expenses, instrument and travel insurance, etc. We appreciate everyone who is helping us make this opportunity possible!
About Us:
We are a woodwind quintet comprised of students at the University of Northern Iowa. Emily Paul is a third-year student studying flute performance. Lin Nikkel, our oboist, is a third-year Music Education major. Madeline Echternacht is a clarinet performance major in her third year. Jonathan Hughes is a second-year student studying horn performance. Makayla Rasmussen is a senior bassoon performance major.
Our passion is performing chamber music and sharing our love of music and the arts far and wide. Thank you for helping us make our dream possible!
