When a baby arrives Mom and Dad quickly take inventory - 10 tiny fingers, 10 tiny toes... Everything is perfect and everyone is in Heaven. Until one day you notice that something just isn't quite right and everything changes.
That is exactly what happened for Cody and Dana Shepple when baby QuinnLeigh arrived. At 2.5 months old they noticed three small bumps on baby Q's right collar bone. After an ultrasound it was assumed to just be lymphnodes and doctors weren't concerned. But those lumps began to grow, mom and dad became increasingly more worried. At her 4 month check up (Jan 6th) the peditrician met Cody and Dana at the same level of concern they'd had for 6 weeks. This set off a chain of doctors visits, blood draws, MRIs, ultra sounds, a biopsy and specialists.
On January 31, 2018, QuinnLeigh was diagnosed with a Kaposiform Hemangioendothelimoa (KHE) tumor with Kasasbach-Merritt Phenomenona (KMP) attached to it. A rare and aggressive blood vessel and lymphnode tumor. By the grace of God, this growth is benign. However, baby Q has a long road to recovery ahead of her.
QuinnLeigh will first be on medications, in an attempt to shink the tumor in effort to remove the giant, angry beast from her tiny body.
As these things can never come at a "good time", Cody was laid off from his job just after Christmas. Dana runs an in home daycare in which she is unable to care for kids when they need to travel to Children's Hospital in Aurora, CO for baby Q's appointments. The family is in need of love, prayers and some financial support to get them through this incredibly difficult time.
