Quincy Strong - Stick it to Cancer!

In June 2022, Quincy Rohrbach, a 19 year-old recent high school graduate of Ponderosa High School, received news that no one ever hopes to get. After landing on her shoulder during a seemingly minor fall off of her horse, Quincy’s shoulder continued to bother her and cause her pain. Quincy went in to see her orthopedic doctor, and he requested X-rays of her shoulder. Those X-rays revealed that she had a bone tumor in the humerus bone of her right upper arm. After undergoing a biopsy of that bone and a PET scan, Quincy was diagnosed with stage 4 osteosarcoma that had metastasized to her lungs. Osteosarcoma is a rare form of bone cancer that occurs primarily in young children and late adolescents with approximately 1,000 new cases diagnosed in the United States each year.
Quincy began intensive chemotherapy in July 2022. She underwent surgery to remove the primary tumor with a complete reverse shoulder replacement and resection of her right upper arm that October. Throughout the almost two years of her battle with cancer, Quincy has displayed her warrior spirit undergoing numerous rounds of chemotherapy, surgeries, and radiation treatments. Unfortunately, the cancer has continued to grow despite the chemotherapy and surgeries. Quincy and her doctors are exploring other treatment options through clinical trials and oral chemotherapy.
Quincy is an avid equestrian from Parker, Colorado, where she lives on a farm with her mom, dad, older sister, and twin 16 year old brothers. When she is out of the hospital, Quincy enjoys giving treats to her horse “Artemis” and snuggling with her dog, “Rosebud”. Quincy loves watching hockey and going to hockey games! Her favorite teams are the Colorado Avalanche, the New Jersey Devils, and the Anaheim Ducks. Meeting some of her favorite hockey stars has been a great source of strength and a welcome respite in a year full of the trials of battling cancer!
Quincy is receiving her cancer treatment at Children's Hospital Colorado at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora and palliative care through The Denver Hospice Footprints Children's Services. All proceeds from this Go Fund Me account will be used to pay for costs associated with Quincy's continued treatments and any end-of-life wishes she wants to fulfill in the coming months. Thank you for your kindness and support!
