On Saturday afternoon, Aug 27, Ed Koehn’s family went to Clayton Lake to spend some time together enjoying the evening. Quincy brought his boat and spent the evening fishing with his brothers and sister. Later that night after dropping his siblings off at home and while driving to his apartment, he pulled out to pass a car on the four lane highway and ran into the back of a slow moving truck that was traveling in the passing lane getting ready to make a left turn.

Quincy was severely injured in the crash with a critical internal injury and extensive facial trauma. He was transported by ground to Dumas Tx where he was able to meet a helicopter to airlift him to Amarillo. After stabilizing him there, he was flown to the trauma center in Fort Worth. Once there, the surgery for the internal injury was performed first and went well. The next day a team of seven surgeons worked for 7 to 8 hrs on his facial trauma to repair the damages. The surgeries went well. We are thankful to God that Quincy doesn’t have more injuries and he is on the road to recovery.

Quincy spent several days in ICU, a couple more days in the hospital, and was discharged yesterday, Sept. 3. He still needs full time care and Ed’s (his parents) are staying with him in an apartment close to the hospital for the time being since he has some follow up appointments over the next week.

We would like to give you this opportunity to share in this need. There will be a lot of medical expenses, air transport, surgeries, hospital stay, apartment rental and follow up care all added to the loss of work for both Quincy and his Dad, Ed.
