Quincy High & BMMS grad needs a hand up
Donation protected
You might remember me, Mai Pham, Broad Meadows Middle School graduate and Quincy High graduate. I need some help.
This past September, I found myself, my significant other, daughter, & son homeless. My daughter, Isabelle is 14 years old & my son, Leo is 1 year old. We had to move 3 times in four months due to mold issues in the units we lived in. The first unit was due to noise & neighbor issues, but the following two apartments were due to mold. We exhausted ourselves financially.
Family said if we moved back to Boston, they would help us get back on our feet. They would help us pay for the first 2 months of rent and give us a place to stay until we get our own apartment.
We moved back to Boston from Texas in August to give our kids a better education & childhood. When we got to Boston, our family lied and said they never offered us a place to stay. We found ourselves homeless.
Our family got placed at Project Hope in Dorchester, MA for the first month after being doubled up in Quincy & Brockton. Then we got transferred to a Best Western in Plymouth, MA. It was a 1 hr commute to Isabelle’s school and a 2 hr commute for me to get to work. We didn’t have access to cooking. I am the only income earner for a family of 4, so all of my income was going towards food & gas. We were recently transferred again to a scattered site in Plymouth, increasing our commute.
There is light at the end of the tunnel!
We got approved for an apartment with a December 15 move in date.
We were able to come up with the security deposit, but we are short the first month's rent.
Please help us get out of homelessness and shelters and into our new home.
Any donation or help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Mai Pham
P.S.
Standing by Mai and family at this time of housing insecurity is retired Broad Meadows Middle School teacher Mr. Adams who can be reached at: [email redacted] (mailto:[email redacted])
UPDATE:
I cannot express how grateful my family & I are with all of the help we have received Monday morning when I started sharing the Gofundme, I was daunted by how much we had to raise in 10 days.
I wanted to thank all of our friends & the Quincy community & further for all of their support. Thank you to everyone who shared our post! I’m excited to share that we have reached our goal! I know there’s a few who still would like to help, so I am keeping the Gofundme open.
I know a few had asked for my direct Venmo. Here it is:
Any funds over our goal will go towards moving costs, basic needs, & furnishings. We don’t have anything but our suitcases with clothes & a few sentimental belongings.
Again thank you thank you for helping my family get back on our feet. Isabelle said “Mission HOME for Christmas is completed.”
