Quilt Magazine: The Love Edition
Donation protected
We are Quilt Magazine! We are an influential group of young black and brown artists based in the San Francisco Bay Area making a space for ourselves in the creative world. With our magazine we aim to create space for underrepresented artists everywhere and help young artists learn to build a life for themselves supported by the art they create. We feature work that elevates the individual and personal experience, giving new perspectives to old ideas using fashion, photography, writing, digital art, and much more. Artists, especially young creatives have been disregarded and not taken seriously for too long and we are here to cement our place in the greater art community.
In the past year, we released our first issue in August (2021) which included 10+ guest artists along with our core team and we are extremely grateful for our loved ones and our community for showing up to the launch event we held at Evolved SF. We have since begun creating our board of directors, developing as an official nonprofit, and filed a Quilt Magazine copyright, but there is still a long way to go.
For the Love Edition launch, we are producing more magazines, holding a larger event, and including more artists in this publication. We are grateful for the connections we have made and for the relationships built from the last issue but it isn’t enough to get us through the whole production of the second release. It takes community support and we ask everyone to do what they can and spread the word and support so we can keep Quilt Magazine going.
Quilt Magazine is not only a magazine but it is a community of young ambitious black and brown artists who want to promote and uplift each other because we are often overlooked. We invite you to experience the magazine with us on June 4th at the Brava Theater in the San Francisco Mission district. Come enjoy the Love Edition along with great food, music, and people, can’t wait to see you there.
