My name is Mayker Villamizar and I am a student at Manual High School in Denver, Colorado. I play soccer for Manual and soccer is my passion. I've worked very hard to be successful for my team and I've helped my team make the state playoffs the last 3 years. My goal is to be able to play in college and hopefully at the highest level possible.
Earlier this year, I suffered a really serious injury during a game versus our rival school. I had a breakaway going to goal and their keeper came out and we collided. Instantly I felt a great amount of pain and my foot started to swell. The pain was so excruciating that I could not return to the game. The next day we went to the doctor, they took x-rays and they told me I had a serious fracture in my leg and needed surgery to put a screw in my leg to fix it.
My parents work very hard to provide for me and my family but are not able to afford the surgery. The doctors told me if I didn't have the surgery that I would never play soccer again and possibly have problems walking for the rest of my life, so they decided to have the surgery anyway. This is bringing a lot of burden to my family financially and would really appreciate any help we can get. I love playing soccer and I love my family for everything that they have done. Please help us if you can, thank you.
