QUICK SNIPS 6000 PEOPLE $5.00 CAMPAIGN

Donation protected

How many times have you come across a customer going the extra mile to campaign for a local business? This story is about a hair salon, ‘Quick Snips’, based in St.Charles, Illinois, and its owner, Jenny.

Hi! I’m Holly Work. In February 2013, my husband and I had moved to West Chicago and we discovered the salon near our house. Since then, we’ve become raving fans!

I was lucky to have met Jennifer back then. We grew good friends quickly, and our bond became much stronger in the last 7 years.

I have, especially been inspired by her passion for cutting hair and the care she has shown towards everyone who has stepped in her salon. Cutting hair is her way to connect with and engage in heart-to-heart conversations. She truly cares about people and is the best listener I know.

Jen has offered free haircuts and makeovers to numerous homeless people. One such man came back to her after 3 days, with tears of joy, saying that he had gotten a job because of her.

Some of her clients call her at 3 A.M. with their troubles and Jen gladly answers the phone every time to give them strength and hope.

Mondays, when most salons are closed, she does not take the day off. She goes and cuts hair for the elderly instead.

She has been cutting hair for 20+ years, happily, if I may add. She cuts hair because it's what she loves and knows the best.

However, she has been paying really high commercial rent with rates rising every year. On top of that, buildings were rotting and not being repaired.

As a close friend and a small business owner myself, I have been pushing and encouraging her to get a place of her own for years, to build equity.

Recently, she found a place in St. Charles, Illinois and decided to take the plunge. She chose St. Charles because of the excellent schools that her daughter could attend. She bought the place and started the business thinking she’d leave a financial legacy for her daughter.

I was happy that I could inspire someone to fulfill their lifelong dream.

But, I couldn’t be more wrong. She just opened the salon 5 months ago before it was forced to close. All her income disappeared overnight.

She has already been through a lot…

Even before she opened the salon, she had a serious medical condition that did not allow her to work for a period of time. She still had someone working in the salon, cutting hair, while she was healing.

The couple sacrificed a spacious apartment to live above the salon in a tiny, 2 bedroom studio. Yet, they still smile and love others.

She seeks no sympathy from others. Providence has treated her unkind. Yet, she’s a toughie, made of sterner stuff. Resilient and determined. If we do not help such people in need, who will?

WHY GIVE TO THIS WHEN SO MANY NEED HELP?.....Because you have the choice in this campaign to make a donation or give a small business loan which will be paid back with a flat 2% interest on your contribution.  It will be paid back as Jen is able to pay it back with no stipulations of time or due dates.  When you make a contribution, Jen will send you a note and ask what your preference is.  If you want us to pay it back, just respond to the e-mail address in the note and you will receive the money back when she is able to pay.  Our goal is to pay off her mortgage on the property.. all monies received will go to that purpose.  Her mortgage on the property is $289,000.  So if you can help us go beyond the relief goal, no one will ever be able to take her salon away and the business at this location will be saved for good.

$5.00 Counts as 1 Person                                Example: Contribution = $50.00
$50.00 Counts as 10 People                          Go Fund Me Receives 10% = $5.00
Amount Interest Will be Paid on: $45.00

We reserve the right to return a donation of a small business loan amount if a contributor requires different terms than we have stated above.

5,460     PEOPLE TO GO SINCE WE STARTED THE $5.00 CAMPAIGN

Updates on Jen's Progress-6/10/20:  The salon is open now but she is by herself and can only take one person at a time according to Covid rules.  People are trickling in but not even close to a normal pace.  She has enough money to make 1 mortgage payment.  She will still be 60 days passed due as of June 25th.  Thank you for all the heart felt contributions.

Please find below Jenny’s note to everyone -

Hello everyone! Jenny here. I'm the owner of Quick Snips hair salon in St. Charles Illinois and we recently opened last year in October. After a long process to get the salon up and running, it was a heartbreak to have to close so suddenly.

I have exhausted every financial avenue that has been afforded to small businesses with no success.
We are in this together and we can help each other get through this pandemic!

I miss each one of my clients, old, new, and future. Thanking you in advance for your patronage! Be safe and stay healthy!
