Quest for “Q” Support Koqwesi’s Family: Intensive Recovery

A Quest for Q

This fundraiser is a “Quest for Q”. Koqwesi, known as “Q”, has been a dedicated frontline worker, an Emergency Medical Technician in Chicago who

worked in the emergency room, dedicating countless hours of service to the community. Koqwesi worked diligently as a provider, husband, and father and would always be caught smiling at work as he often volunteered to help anyone that came into his path.

Work Ethics

Due to his friendly nature and helpfulness, it was not uncommon to have nurses, physicians, clerks, or even patients looking for “Q”. There was never a task too big or too small, and his helpfulness was spread throughout the emergency room.

Where is Q?

On December 30, 2024, multiple staff members could not find “Q”. As different areas of the department were searched and “Q’s” wife called the emergency room desk, concerned as she was also asking where was “Q”? Oddly, she (his wife) had not heard from him after numerous attempts to reach him on his cellphone; this information intensified the search for “Q” and one colleague finally spoke to “Q” when he managed to answer his cellphone and provided his location.

Sadly, “Q’s” colleagues would find him and discover that while working, “Q” experienced a life-changing event; a hemorrhagic brain injury which has changed his life forever. “Q” continues to fight for his life in an intensive care unit in Chicago. The dedicated husband and father is under intense recovery and the journey is expected to be long. The emotional turmoil of the diagnosis, surgeries, and prognosis has been heartbreaking, yet we continue to support “Q” and his family.

Why “Q”?

Q’s diagnosis has touched the heart of many of his colleagues. The team continues to console one another, praying for the best possible outcome. In support of “Q’s” family, we are asking for financial contributions to aid the family with any expenses in any way possible in an effort to show support. Your generous heartfelt donations will surely help with medical expenses, transportation for his family, food expenses, household bills, etc. Thus, no amount is too small and all donations will be greatly appreciated and impact the family in a positive way.
