Quentin’s Healing Heart Helpers
Donation protected
On Sunday, April 28th, our dear friend Quentin Avery suffered an aortic dissection and underwent emergency surgery at Grandview Hospital. After five hours in surgery, he received a mechanical valve. The next morning, he was sitting in a chair and talking with his family!
As you all know, Quentin and Terriona have four children they are raising and he is their primary support. Quentin's oldest daughter, Angel (age 13), was moved to Talladega and began attending the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind in January as an 8th grader and full residential student. Quentin's youngest daughter, Ava (age 4), attends Precious Tots Daycare 5 days a week. In addition, Terriona has two children, Elijah (age 12), and Alisha (age 7), who both attend Robinson Elementary in the 6th and 1st grades. Terriona is currently the receptionist at 16th Street Baptist Church. Quentin has been working part time at Design Supply and Odette while trying to establish a small business of his own. He previously worked at Maynard-Nexsen.
Quentin is leaving ICU tomorrow and has a long recovery. The doctors say it will be 6 weeks of no activity and 6 months of recovery. He has 7 medications to take every day for the rest of this life. He will not be able to lift, drive or work during his recovery.
Everyone who has ever met Quentin knows the love behind his BIG GRIN! He has always gone above and beyond to take care of others and now is the time we can take care of him. He needs our contributions to pay for his living expenses, medications, transportation to therapy, doctor’s visits and, of course, his family!
