Quentin Abbott needs a new (used) used car or to repair his truck! Please help with him get a vehicle and pay for the rental car until then.
Many of you are familiar with Quentin Abbott's situation from my GFM page for his house repairs gf.me/u/ywdxfd Work is scheduled to start on the roof on Dec 1, 2020.
But 2020 wasn't through with him yet. His 2011 Dodge truck has transmission problems. A dealership wants $6k to replace the transmission. He took it to a different transmission repair shop and they replaced the fan clutch for about $500 but said there are problems with the electronic transmission control system that they couldn't work on. The truck will not shift into 3rd gear. Another shop looked at the electronic problem and recommended taking it back to the dealership. Quentin can not afford to replace the transmission. In the mean time, he is racking up the expense of a weekly rental car.
So I decided to reach out to raise money again to help him out. I'm hoping $6000 will be enough to find a good used vehicle. They really need a vehicle to go to regular doctor's appointments.
A little info about the Abbott brothers: Quentin and Gary are so nice, well-spoken, intelligent and quite with-it. Quentin is a 77-year-old veteran with some health issues, including COPD. During his service in the United States Coast Guard, he suffered hearing loss due to his work manning a big gun on a ship before hearing protection was available. His brother, Gary is 72-years-old and was injured as a child, is illiterate and can not live by himself. Quentin is his custodial guardian. They have been unable to live in their house since a large tree fell in their front yard which pulled out, disconnected the power connection/weatherhead on their house on July 18, 2020. Repairs have yet to be made, but are scheduled to begin Dec 1.
