Help 2 Queers Fight Eviction

Hey community!
We are currently fundraising to save us from eviction. We're based in Brooklyn and like so many of us out there, we're trying to survive the ongoing gentrification of New York City and going thru it.
Who are we? Neha is a big hearted, South Asian Gemini, born and raised in Chicago. She is a doula, chef and cultural worker currently building a dynamic, multifaceted career. Lee is a tender, passionate Sagittarius Boricua, born and raised in New York City. They are an educator, storyteller, and interdisciplinary artist with deep roots in community organizing.
What's tea? Our landlord has been harassing and threatening us with eviction since the end of the summer. He has showed up to our home unannounced/without warning, gaslights us during every conversation we've have with him, hires building staff who make inappropriate and homophobic comments towards us. We are the youngest adults and only queer folks in our building.
Our rent has been increased at every renewal and we've been doing everything we can to keep afloat, but we're now facing housing court if we don't pay $6000 (Jan-Feb back rent + March rent) by February 29th.
We're hoping to deescalate this conflict, avoid court proceedings and stay in our apartment for now. Both of us are working and continuing to look for additional work in order to make ends meet. Like many of us, the pandemic left us with a lot of debt, and we have been playing catch up with our rent/bills for the last few years.
We are burnt out and can no longer figure this out on our own. We do not come from financial wealth and our resources are very limited re: asking bio fam for support. So, we are leaning into the abundance of our communities to support us and help us stay in our home.
Thanks so much for the support and taking the time read our story!
In deep gratitude,
Lee & Neha
