QUEERS FOR QUEERS: Ukrainian LGBTQIA Community

As a volunteer for the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain, I am here to gather funds in support of Queers affected by the Russian invasion. Having been in contact with Kyiv Pride, I am dedicated to amplifying their work during the war in Ukraine and supporting them in their actions.

 

As in any war, the oppressed find it harder to receive the necessary help. Trans people have issues crossing borders, and most members of the Queer community take risks daily just to get to safety. Relying on help from strangers affects those who are marginalised even more than the rest of Ukrainian society. Refusal of transport, housing, or experiencing assaults and harassment, etc. should not be an additional concern when being bombed by the Russian army. Queer people, just like the rest of their nation, deserve safety.

 

Kyiv Pride steps in with their support in relocations, providing food and running a shelter. They bring all kinds of necessary help to Queers affected by the war in Ukraine. On top of that, they make sure to provide verified information and communication about what is happening and the support needed.

 

As they do not accept donations in GBP I have organised this gofundme page with their blessing, to amplify the problem and encourage British residents to contribute.

 

All of the collected donations will be exchanged and sent to Kyiv Pride in full.
