A Queer Academics & Activism Scholarship
Queer Academics & Activism (QAA) is a program I would have cherished in my high school career. This kind of program brings legitimacy to being a queer scholar starting at a young age. It is a week dedicated to learning and talking about queer studies and its many histories and futures. I never knew there was such a thing as queer academics until I got to college.
If QAA had existed 10 years ago I would have been lucky enough to afford the tuition and attend without a problem. However, that is not the case for a lot of young folks. If teens find QAA, apply, and get in - I want them to be able to attend no matter what. But that's not always how it works. I want this program to be accessible, and this is a small way I hope to help. The tuition for one student to attend QAA this summer is $1,800. That is what I hope to raise.
