To Secure Safe Housing
Donation protected
What a year it's been. Like so many others, each of the 3 of us has experienced unstable, unsafe, and unfortunately, abusive living and work environments this year. We are each so acknowledging and grateful for our respective privileges. And still, we turn to our community to humbly ask for help.
Rachelle moves to DC to join Skye in their new home. We drove this moving truck 450miles omg. Oct 2020.

Rachelle & Skye are being wrongfully displaced by their current landlord. Having both come from previously unstable living situations prior to this (due to the tumult caused by COVID 19), they each happily & rather naively moved into a shared housing space with the basic expectations to feel safe and have their privacy and freedoms respected. Their identities as queer, Black womxn already pose as a threat to their existence and survival e v e r y d a y - and to have those same threats present in their home has been disheartening, to say the least.
Joya, a non-binary trans femme, has been working to secure housing for months now: one of the various struggles that come unjustly packed in with their identity. Joya hopes to settle into a space where they can live simply and safely while working to live in their truth. Having only recently come out as nonbinary & trans, the world has certainly been far too short of kind to Joya. Financial support for secure housing is one of many safeties they are working toward.

How Skye spends her days: working as a childcare-taker & homeschool facilitator. We took a trip to the National Mall this day! Nov 2020
Joya posing outside our new apartment building! Dec 2020

The 3 of us have happily found & been approved for an apartment in DC, where Joya and myself (Skye) both recently secured jobs & where Rachelle is working tirelessly to do the same. In a time where we feel suspended between immense gratitude & the daily pressures of just feeling safe we are asking for financial support to cover the costs of:
~ The moving truck, gas & meals (if you have ever moved, you know how tough it is to make time for eating let alone cooking) for moving day(s)
~ First month's rent (January 2021)
~ Security deposit
We believe in the power of community and mutual aid.
We believe that you all trust that we would not ask unless we needed the help.
We deeply appreciate anything that you're able to give - even if that is in the form of sharing this campaign with your network!
OUR DEEPEST THANKS & LOVE.
Happy New year! Hoping it brings you peace,
Skye, Joya & Rachelle.
