Hi, I’m Steve Degay, comedian, entertainer, and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.
I believe our community deserves a new flag. One that’s bold, fun, sexy, inspiring, and chosen by all of us.
The Pride flag has been an important symbol for decades, but when I look at it today - with the triangle and all the extra stripes and the ring and non-matching colours - I have to ask: is this really the best we can do?
I mean as queers, we have design in our DNA! It's what we're known for!
That’s why I’m launching the Queer Flag Challenge: a $5,000 global design contest to imagine a brand new LGBTQ flag from scratch.

I’m raising $5,000 to fund the prize pool for a global design contest to imagine a new LGBTQ+ flag. Every dollar goes directly to the artists. Extra funds will be used to cover contest operations and promotion.
How It Works
Two winners will be selected: one by a panel of design experts, and one by community vote.

3 Honorable Mentions
All designs go public domain, meaning the flag will belong to everyone, free to use forever
The contest is free to enter — no purchase or donation is required to submit a design. Prizes will be awarded to contest participants only.

Why It Matters
Symbols matter. A flag is only real when people carry it: at Pride parades, at protests, in art, on T-shirts, in their windows. This contest is about sparking creativity and giving our community the chance to decide what comes next.
I want a flag that feels like it truly belongs to us all: LGB, trans, BIPOC, intersex, ace, Two-Spirit.
