Real support, right now. For trans lives.
We are living through an unprecedented crisis. The situation for trans people in the UK has shifted at an alarming rate — with our rights, safety, and access to basic dignity being stripped away bit by bit.
At Queer Croydon, we’ve always believed in taking care of our own. Quietly, lovingly, consistently — we’ve been distributing RADAR keys to trans folks who need access to accessible toilets: whether they’re disabled, neurodivergent, experiencing dysphoria or public harassment, or simply need a safe space to pee in peace.
These keys open over 10,000 accessible toilets across the country. For many, they’re not just metal — they’re safety. They’re freedom. They’re a chance to move through public space without fear. Until now, we’ve paid for every single key ourselves — as well as the packaging and postage to get them into the right hands. But the need is growing, and it’s time to ask for help.
We’re launching the Queer Croydon Trans Relief Fund to:
• Buy more RADAR keys
• Cover packaging and postage for those outside our local area
• Ensure no trans person has to wait to feel safer in public
And we’re not stopping there. Any additional money raised will be used to create a trans relief micro-grant programme.
We’ll open up a form where trans people can request help — whether that’s with gender-affirming products, healthcare, clothing, travel costs, or emotional survival.
No hoops, no judgment — just trust, love, and practical support.
This fund is about direct action. Community care. Saying loudly: we won’t let each other go without. Financial transparency and safeguarding are central to this work:
• All funds raised are managed by Queer Croydon under a Crowdfund Management Agreement.
• Expenditure is logged with receipts, reviewed by multiple team members, and published in summary for community accountability.
• Any micro-grants will be assessed via a simple application process — no gatekeeping, but with a clear structure to ensure fairness and responsibility.
• Our safeguarding & GDPR procedures comply with UK law and are embedded into all aspects of our work, ensuring confidentiality and security for all involved.
If you can donate, please do. And if not, share it. Every single bit counts — and every key we give out says, you belong.
