Queen's Park Everest Challenge

Donation protected
Let’s run up Everest… in Queen's Park!

Help run the height of Everest from the convenience of Queen's Park, Glasgow; and raise money to support children in Nepal.

We’ll avoid the perils of altitude sickness, avalanches and queues to the summit whilst raising money for a Nepali after-school homework club, where I’ve volunteered and seen first-hand the difference that the club is making to local young people from very poor backgrounds.

There are two ways you can help:

• Join in! Challenge yourself physically, do some hill reps with me, and donate. Together we’ll accumulate the total combined elevation of Everest- 8884m. That’s approximately 233 repetitions of Queen's Park hill - over 100 miles in distance. I’d love for anybody to join me, even if it is for just one hill rep! As a minimum, I've pledged to run half the height of Everest alone just to be sure to give myself enough of a challenge.

• Or- let us take the physical strain whilst you enjoy your Saturday. Make a donation without breaking a sweat, and share the challenge on social media.

Money raised will go towards providing resources for the homework club.
I first volunteered for the after-school homework club in 2017 where I met Asmita and her Mum, Ama, who were looking after children with complex social backgrounds. I helped the kids with their homework, played games and sports with them and generally hung out with them like they were my own little brothers and sisters.

Asmita and Ama continue to run the after-school homework club. I returned to Nepal in November 2022 and helped out at the club again. Despite facing their own challenges, Asmita and Ama go out of their way to help the kids most in need in their community. They have no financial support to do this and so all money raised will go directly to them so they can decide what is most needed.

Education is so important for these young people and I’d love to be able to help Ama and Asmita support these kids for as long as possible. The money raised will go towards providing resources like pens, paper, arts & crafts, books, after-school snacks and basic warm clothes like hats, gloves and socks for the kids. They also hope to be able to set up WiFi so that online resources can be accessed.

I’d love you to join me in taking on this fun challenge. Please support in any way you can and help raise money for this worthy cause.
