My name is Toni Reed. I am an independent filmmaker who is loving life as a resident of Concord, North Carolina. Soaring Spirits Production LLC is my production company. Visiting the Historic Downtown District of Concord when I arrived in 2019, I noticed something really unique! Most of the businesses are owned or co-owned by women! This intrigued me so I started to talk more and more with the women who decided to make Union Street the place to realize their dreams. Seems as if Concord has always been a place where women entrepreneurs have flourished! I, like the women who own businesses here, fell in love with quaint business district. It's a place where I've been able to catch my breath and start anew! I wanted to share what I've learned about my new home. Filming began in February 2020 and just as things got rolling, we were all derailed by the fallout from COVID-19. But it hasn't stopped any of us. I continue to film as the Queens are comfortable with making themselves available to me but could use some help.
I have a small documentary film budget of $70,000. I will be pursuing grants but this campaign is designed to help me raise at least 20% of the $70,000.00 budget which will help shore up my efforts when applying for other grants. In addition, the 20% raised will help me secure freelance production support and sorely needed resources and music licensing. Right now I am a one-woman band but I'm in need of the help of other percussionists and some assists from the string section.
