Ellie's ACL Surgery

Donation protected
UPDATE: Ellie's TPLO surgery is scheduled for 11/8. We are still pinching pennies & raising money for her. As always, we are SO thankful for all of your sharing & donating. Please continue to share to help us help our baby!

Wow you guys, thank you SO much for continuing to share & donate to Ellie. We really can’t thank you all enough. We’ve raised our fundraising goal to $3500 see if we can get more of the surgery covered. We’re learning that Ellie is going to need a couple post-operation X-rays 8 weeks and 12 weeks after her surgery, which is going to cost a couple hundred dollars more. Every dollar put towards her helps us out immensely in being able to afford the best care for her!! We will be scheduling her surgery soon, we’ll update with that information once we have it.

We've gone back & forth with our vet about different procedures to make her ACL repair more affordable, but unfortunately she is past the weight recommendation for these procedures and it is unlikely the repair will hold. This means we're still looking at a $5,000+ bill to help her out. Ugh!
We are half way to our $2500 fundraising goal. We're so touched by everyone's generosity - thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Please continue to share to your network so we can get as much help for Ellie as we can.

Hi, my husband, Chris, and I are fundraising for our dog, Ellie.

Ellie recently had an accident where she injured her leg and broke a tooth. We were hoping that she just pulled a muscle and it would get better after a few days, but it only got worse. While she was at the vet to get her broken tooth extracted, she received x-rays for her leg and upon review by the radiologist, discovered that she blew her ACL.

Although she is still her happy-go-lucky self, she is no longer using her leg due to the pain she is in. She is unable to leave the house to go on walks & hikes (her favorite activity) with us and has become completely house bound. We are very concerned that if we wait to correct her injury, it will become worse. Our vet told us that there is a 50% chance her other ACL may go due to over compensation from her pain.

The quote we received for her procedure has a low estimate of $5,000. We are fundraising because we have run out of options to foot the bill. We are in a tight financial spot and won't be able to pay rent/utility bills without any aid with her surgery. We are still paying off the bill for her tooth extraction & x-rays. Our pet insurance covered a small portion of that, but will not cover orthopedic procedures until February. At that point, her ACL will be considered a pre-existing condition and still won't be covered.

We have been in contact with our vet about payment options. Unfortunately they do not allow for payment plans, and advised us to apply for a loan to cover the expenses.

We feel very vulnerable reaching out for help, but we know that we live in an amazing & supportive community who can help spread the word and, if able to, spare a couple bucks.

Thank you SO much for reading, sharing, and donating. I'm not sure I can put into words how much we appreciate any help we can get for Ellie.

Much Love,

Caitlin, Chris, & Ellie
