Qualifying Palestine Rowing for the Olympics
Donation protected
Hello!
My name is Amel Younis, and I represent Palestine in the sport of rowing. My goal is to become Palestine's first Olympic rower at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
I started rowing in high school 16 years ago in Worcester, Massachusetts. Rowing has taken me to Mercyhurst University and to Riverside Boat Club in Cambridge, MA. More recently, rowing has brought me to Miami to prepare for the Asian Qualification Regatta in South Korea this April. If I am able to attend this regatta, I have a chance of representing Palestinians in arguably one of the most important world events. Palestinians deserve to see our flag fly alongside the flags of other nations of the world.
In preparation for the regatta, I have been training 4-6 hours each day while working a full-time job. Juggling this schedule has been quite challenging, but my commitment to represent Palestine far exceeds the exhaustion and fatigue. I keep going when I’m tired because I know that's what Palestinians do.
In order to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, I need your help. Up until this point of my rowing career, I have been self-funded, but this year’s events require more than I can personally cover. I am hoping to fundraise for flights, accommodations, food, travel, equipment, among other expenses that will come along the way. If you believe in the importance of Palestinian representation like I do, please consider:
- Making a donation of whatever value. Any amount helps!
- Sharing this page and spreading the word about my journey.
I am so grateful for any contribution. Go Palestine!
