My name is Meggin. My brother, Micah Retz, broke his neck in 2008, when his three children were in elementary school, leaving him a quadrapalegic with limited mobility and ongoing health issues. Even with his injury, he always been positive, strong, adventurous, and raised his children as a single father. He taught his children life has no limits.
His children are now 20, 23, and 25.
Micah has required 24 hour care, every day since his accident. Recently, Micah’s three children have provided 100% of his care, making their IHSS income from caregiving for him their only source of income.
The children have debts and monthly expenses which include student loan payments (of $1,000/month) and other basic living expenses. On January 1, 2022, after a month long battle with Covid, micah passed away.
His children are now faced with two challenges, to accept and understand the passing of their father, who was the center of their lives, and to find jobs and replace the income they received as his caregivers without becoming behind in debt payments.
We humbly seeking assistance so the children have time to heal and adjust to their new life, while still being able to maintain their monthly expenses.
All money will be used directly to help his kids.
Thank you kindly.
