Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our page.
Layton Smit is 6 years young, and last week he and his family had their entire world turned upside down when they discovered that he had been diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a rare form of cancer (or "lump" as they are calling it) of the eye muscle.
Layton’s parents are Matthew & Rebecca, and he also has two loving sisters, Makiya (8yrs old) and Indianna (2.5yrs old). Like all boys Layton’s age, he loves all kinds of sport, in particular basketball, AFL and soccer. Unfortunately though, it will now be quite some time before Layton gets to enjoy playing the sports he loves so much, or before he can be running around playing with his siblings as he should be.
Life is going to be very tough for little Layton as begins the long fight ahead of him. His battle begins with surgery to insert two ports under the skin in his chest (for various medicines to be administered); immediately followed by the commencement of chemotherapy treatment, which will continue for at least the next six months or so.
Everyone’s love and prayers are so welcomed and appreciated during this difficult time, and we ask that you please continue to pray as his fight goes on. However, if you were also looking to help the Smit family in a practical way, then any donation, no matter how big or small, would be so appreciated.
Any funds that are raised will go directly to the Smit family in order to help them with any medical bills, hospital parking fees, fuel to get to and from the hospital, and to assist in covering Matthew’s wage so that he can spend some much needed time with his family, as he is self-employed.
We know that Rebecca & Matt would never ask for this kind of help, but we also know that they are the sorts of people that would be the first to help anyone else in need, even if it meant taking the shirts of their own back. So at a time when they need it the most, we are forever grateful for any contribution you can make.
Thank you again for your support.
